1. Our Commitment

Varden is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.

We believe that all users should have equal access to information and functionality on our platform, regardless of ability or disability. This commitment extends to our website, mobile applications, and all digital communications.

2. Accessibility Standards

2.1 Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

Varden strives to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are actively working toward full compliance and continuously audit our platform to identify and address accessibility barriers.

2.2 ADA Compliance

We are committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III requirements for accessibility of public accommodations. Our goal is to ensure that individuals with disabilities can independently access and use all features and functionality of our platform.

2.3 Section 508

For our government clients and partners, we work to ensure our platform meets the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, which requires federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible.

Our platform includes the following accessibility features:

For the best accessible experience, we recommend using the latest versions of:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox

  • Microsoft Edge

We test our platform with these browsers in combination with common screen readers to ensure compatibility. Older browser versions may have reduced accessibility support.

6. Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Varden, there may be some limitations. We are actively working to address these issues:

6.1 PDF Documents

Some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible. We are working to provide accessible alternatives and update existing documents. When possible, content is also available in accessible HTML format.

6.2 Third-Party Content

Content provided by third parties (such as embedded maps, payment forms, or integrated services) may not be fully accessible. We work with our partners to improve accessibility and provide alternative methods of accessing this content when possible.

6.3 Complex Data Visualizations

Some charts, graphs, and interactive visualizations may be difficult to interpret with screen readers. We provide text descriptions, data tables, and alternative formats where possible.

6.4 Real-Time Features

Some real-time features (live chat, notifications) may have limitations. We provide alternative ways to access this information, including email notifications and message history.

7. Assessment Methods

Varden assesses the accessibility of our platform through multiple methods:

  • Automated testing: Using tools like axe, Lighthouse, and WAVE to identify issues
  • Manual testing: Keyboard-only navigation testing by our team
  • Screen reader testing: Regular testing with NVDA, VoiceOver, and JAWS
  • External audits: Periodic third-party accessibility audits
  • User feedback: Input from users with disabilities
  • Expert review: Review by accessibility specialists
