Why Online Payments Matter
Collecting rent online isn't just convenient—it's better for your business. Tenants are more likely to pay on time when it's easy, and you get a clear record of every transaction.
Connecting Your Bank Account
Before you can receive payments, you need to connect your bank account:
1. Go to Settings → Payment Account 2. Click "Connect Bank Account" 3. Search for your bank and log in securely 4. Select the account where you want deposits
Your bank information is encrypted and never stored on our servers.
Payment Methods
Varden supports two payment methods for tenants:
ACH Bank Transfer - Lower fees (typically included in your plan) - Takes 3-5 business days to process - Most common for rent payments
Credit/Debit Card - Higher fees (typically 2.9% + $0.30) - Processes faster - Good for tenants in a pinch
You can choose to offer one or both options.
Setting Up Autopay
Encourage tenants to set up autopay—it's the best way to ensure on-time payments:
- Tenants can schedule automatic payments for any day of the month
- Payments are pulled automatically, no action required
- You get notified when payments are initiated and completed
Autopay reduces late payments significantly.
Tracking Payments
The Payments section of your dashboard shows:
- Pending payments (initiated but not yet deposited)
- Completed payments (deposited to your account)
- Failed payments (insufficient funds, etc.)
- Payment history by tenant and property
